A lot of people are not aware that there are a variety of paper sizes to choose from. Among the most popular is the common letter-sized paper which is widely known in Europe and in other countries outside the U.S. The A4 card had the dimensions of 8.3 x 11.7 or 210 x 297 mm. It is a little narrower and a little longer than the common letter-sized paper in the U.S. To be able to choose among the different sizes, it might be good to give you an overview of the choices that you have. ISO paper sizes are the most popular. They can be broken down into different subcategories which are conveniently named with a letter. The series of sizes include the A-series, B-series, C-series and D-series. As the name of the series indicates, the A4 card belongs to the A-series. However, it is true that the names of the American paper sizes are somehow logical – letter, legal. The names are based on the function of the particular paper unlike in the UK, where names such as “foolscap” is being used. Many people claim that the names used for the English paper sizes are illogical and misleading. When you first look at the different names, they might sound confusing but the more frequent you use them, the more familiar you will be with the names. In no time, you will be able to associate them with the names without exerting any extra effort in remembering each of them. In deciding whether A4 card is the best for you needs, you will have to look at the different options that you have. Types of paper sizes include the ISO, American, English and the UK metric booking printing sizes. They differ in dimensions and their names are sometimes based on their usage (American) and some are based on their actual size (ISO). Do not be misled by other paper sizes which are named randomly, without any logical system behind it.
