Something unheard of just a couple of generations ago, we have the ability to temperate the weather. Think about that. It can be 25 degrees outside and a toasty, consistent 75 degrees inside. Not with a roaring fire that someone has to tend through the night, where half the house would be so toasty and the other half still freezing, or you would have to tend multiple fireplaces. Our homes can be consistently kept at any temperature we would like. In summer, we have air conditioning that keeps our home, again at 75 degrees, if we so choose, all summer long, regardless of the scorching heat outside! Heating and air conditioning in Phoenix is a modern day miracle. We could probably survive without a furnace in Phoenix, but not cooling in Phoenix. I love to think about the little things we so take for granted. I love to think about an excavator and what just one of those would have meant for our pioneer settlers. They cleared the land one tree at a time, man, boy and horse. What they did in a year with saws, axes and animals we could probably do in a week or less. I love the day and age we live in; conveniences at every turn. While I am sitting here writing my laundry is being cleaned in a machine for me, the dishes are being washed and if I wanted I could purchase an automatic vacuum cleaner. It is a great time to be alive, we have the ability to temperate the weather, now don't you feel powerful?
