Information About A Working Holiday In Australia. Australia has a network of Information Centres in every town and city which are a goldmine of information. These centres are mostly staffed by volunteers and I happened to get talking to the helpful ladies at the Maleny (Queensland) Visitors Centre the other day, and they were able to tell me where to find work in the area! “Head down to Beerwah” they said, “The Gowinta strawberry farm is looking for 200 workers to employ now”. Wow, as simple as that! That’s how easy it can be when you arrive in an area and are looking for employment on your working holiday in Australia. Beerwah is just 75 klms North of Brisbane (which has an International Airport) and the strawberry farm needs hundreds of workers between May and October to pick strawberries every year. They have over 2 million strawberry plants in the ground, so you get an idea of just how big this farm is. This is a fabulous location for work, because the farm also supplies a caravan park on the farm for your accommodation. They have a big manicured grassed area for tents which will cost you just $15 per night, or if you have a caravan or campervan you can get a powered site for just $25 per night. The caravan park boasts modern clean showers and toilets and there is even a laundry onsite with coin operated machines. The farm is located very close to the town of Beerwah, and only 3 klms away you will find Pubs, Clubs, Post Office, Churches, Ambulance and Police Services and Dentists and Doctors etc. You don’t even have to pack your own lunch when you go to work if you don’t want to... Gowinta Strawberry Farm has an onsite cafe and fresh fruit shop. They also have their own processing and packing sheds and transport division with refrigerated trucks for taking the fruit to market. This fruit farm is no ordinary farm. They cater to tourists that come to the area and provide a guided tour and a 100 seat function centre for their guests. As you can see there are many more employment opportunities for you than just picking strawberries. You could even rotate your employment at the farm to give you a more varied working holiday whilst in Australia. This is an exciting prospect being so close to Brisbane International Airport.
