A question I am often asked is should you expose your affiliate links? I believe that all affiliate links should be hidden but that is just my opinion. It doesn’t take long to cloak an affiliate link and it is something that I have done for quite some time now. If you are operating in markets away from internet marketing or the make money online niche, then it is not such a big problem, but if you are involved in these niches I would always recommend it. A common example of why you should not expose your affiliate links in this niche can be found when promoting clickbank products. The non internet marketing crowd who you are promoting to probably don’t have a clue about affiliate links and hoplinks but the internet marketing crowd do, and they know that it is just a case of altering your link and they will be credited with any sales. While it is only a very small minority who would get involved in this it must be remembered that it does happen and I for one don’t want anyone of this nature to benefit from all of my hard work. It should also be taken into consideration that affiliate links in full can often include lots of letters and numbers and it would not be unusual for some people to be put off from clicking on the link because it looks a little suspect to say the very least. The link would be far more inviting if it was made into a hyper link with the product name or simply ‘Click Here’ which can prove to be highly effective. You will sometimes find the situation arise that someone does not want to click on a link because they don’t like the thought of anyone making money out of them That’s fair enough, but is just another reason why I don’t like to expose my affiliate links, I prefer to narrow down the odds in my favour so that there is every chance that my links will be clicked on and I will go on to make money. If you don’t want to take the necessary steps to hide your affiliate links I would just try and track your results for a short period of time exposing your affiliate links and then cover them for the same amount of time. At the end of this period simply compare the sales that have been made and then make your decision. After all, money talks and if you make more money one way than the other than that is the road you should go down. Some people say that by covering you affiliate links you are acting in a sneaky way but in my opinion nothing could be further from the truth. You have to look after your income in whatever business you are involved in and that is all that someone who does not want to expose their affiliate links is doing.
