As we all know there are a few reasons you need a blog for your business. If you have a blog, you know how much fun it can be and how you can give it your special and personal touch. If you still yet to start a blog; pay special attention to the following reasons, then start a blog and watch your business skyrocket. It's your Home If you owned a franchise or a brick and mortar business you would be working out of a building. This building would have such things as four walls, a roof, windows, a floor and expenses that you don't have with a blog. While on the internet you need to have a home but somewhat different than a conventional business, this is a digital world we live in now. A blog allows you to put great content out to people and not clutter up your website for your business. A blog is really easy to find online, easy to navigate and you have the ability to give the reader a great experience. It's practically free Now the first thing you want to make sure is that you get a great domain name for your blog. Your domain name can be purchased from places like GoDaddy.com or Register.com, for as low as 99 cents. You want to make sure your domain name is relevant to what you are doing or providing, for example mine is RobertStrongMarketing; my name plus what I do. You can start a free blog by using WordPress or Blogger.com, while the blog is free you will need to invest in hosting. With hosting you may have a 5-10 dollar monthly fee; there are many different companies to use and many different opinions on who is the best. Once you have a blog it's your chance to put any information on there, which gives you great advertising abilities. Great Way to Advertise Another reason you need a blog for your business is advertising. If you use WordPress like I do, you can really have fun with all the abilities of the blogging platform. You can add video, pictures, text, music and whatever else you want, even testimonials of previous customers. One thing that is awesome advertising on your site is positive comments; make sure you have a place where people can leave comments. This allows other potential customers to see that you have provided great products or services in the past. On your blog you can also have some affiliate links that you have used and benefited from, just make sure you have used them and endorse them as good. If it's on your blog, it is a direct reflection of you and who you are, this is part of your branding, keep this in mind and you will be successful. Mastermind with like-minded Bloggers You can look around on the net and find people that are in the same business niche as you are. For example if you have a home child care business you can start a blog on best practices and what works and struggles you have. This blog can attract a few different types of people, one type would be the individual looking for childcare and the other would be another child care provider. If you make contact with this other childcare provider you two can mastermind together, what is working, what are some challenges you may be having. You can also look at other blogs and content on their site for ideas on how to improve your business. There are a few "nice" rules you want to play by, if you want to use someone else's post on your site, ask for permission and also give the credit to original provider. Never, ever, ever just copy and paste and put on your site as your content, it's just rude and very unprofessional. As you add more and more content people look to you as an expert in that field. You become the expert You own your blog, you own the content, and you become the expert. Here is another reason you need a blog for your business, when people arrive they will be influenced to read a few posts, maybe leave a comment or two and maybe leave but come back later. If you deliver great content that is relevant to what they were looking for, you become an expert to them. I would strongly suggest offering free tips, how to's and articles on the field you are in. If you only have services or products for sale on your blog site, it's not considered a blog, it's known as a sales page. People are not dumb, give them credit, they know when they are being sold to for the most part. If you provide tips, tricks, how to videos and great content, people see this as an educational experience and are attracted to you as an expert. Here are a few last minute tips on your blog Don't make your blog too personal Be consistent - posts two or three posts a week Be original and honest Be open to others opinions as they comment on your posts Now that you have a blog, you are in a better position to provide the world with great content. Providing great content provides great solutions which in turn helps others out and helps your business. Here is a great quote I found on helping others out by Anne Frank "How wonderful is that nobody need to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world" - Anne Frank Wishing you everlasting success, Your friend and mentor, Robert David Strong If you are truly tired of the mundane 70+ hour work week, lost time with the family and feel there has to be a better way – I’m here to tell you there is.
