Based in Nashville, Tennessee -- the Titans is a professional football team which was established in the 1960s under the American football league Eastern division where it played until 1969. The team was previously known as the Houston Oilers but the team was bought and moved to Nashville. This action gave way to the institution of the Houston Texans which joined the NFL as an expansion team. From 1970 to 2001 the team played under the American football conference Central division, and recently (2002 until today) the team has played for the AFC South division. The Titans are also able to win the AFC Central division championships in 1991, 1993 and 2000; and last but not least they won the AFC southern division championship in 2002.
