Mortgage borrowers are more suspicious and distrusting than ever as the economy struggles and negative media against the mortgage industry rapidly increases. While borrowers are wary of the intentions of mortgage professionals, their need for refinancing and consolidated debts are as great as ever.

The way to becoming a successful mortgage professional these days is to earn the trust and confidence of borrowers. People are questioning whether mortgage professionals are out to help others or just themselves, if they can be trusted to look out for their clients’ best interests.

If your main marketing strategy stems from your mortgage website, there are a number of things that can be done to gain a borrower’s trust. A client’s first impression relies on the first 10 seconds they spend on your website. Here are some things you can do to make that first impression a good one.

1. Clean, Modern Web Design

Your mortgage website should be as clutter-free as possible, leaving only the most basic features for a client to deal with. The design should be modern and reflect the type of services you provide. When a client comes to your mortgage website, they should immediately get a sense of your character as an organized, experienced professional.

2. Simple, Direct Web Content

If you content is full of big words and complicated ideas, your clients will go in search of something easier to understand. Keep your web content simple, brief and to the point. Borrowers don’t have time to sift through all the text on the mortgage website to find the information they need. The simpler the content, the more likely it is that your clients will trust you.

3. Provide the Right Tools

Mortgage borrowers are visiting your mortgage website for a specific purpose. The main purpose is to view property listings with prices, location, square feet and information like the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and parking spaces. Your website should also include a mortgage calculator so your visitors will be able to calculate amortization payments, interest, and tax payments. Your website could also include articles, blogs, and other information that educate people about real estate and what options they have. Another necessity for every successful mortgage website is an application form and a contact form. Give your clients every opportunity to contact you.
