In this season as we look at the global economic down-turn, it is very easy to notice the mistakes that were committed particularly in the corporate America by senior CEO's of major companies, which have contributed to the current economic melt-down. The flip side of this situation is that among the stake holders, there is a growing consensus on what exactly went wrong and how to mend the situation. But more importantly, on the changes that need to be implemented so as to avert this present situation from reoccurring again in the future. The military has programs that develop their strategies and operation in time of combat that the business world needs to borrow. Which is to win a battle because to them failure is not an option. Many times when looking for prospective employees we go for their qualifications and we overlook the essence of skill, this has resulted in having an educated work force that to some extent does not bring in real added value to the organization. Skill simply means sharpened and developed talent and gift. Of course education plays a role in that, but it is not enough. The first thing a team leader needs to do is to discover the potential in an individual in terms of gifts and talents and of course qualification, then find ways developing these talents before they are applied. That can only happen through customized training. Gifts and talents are the natural endowments each individual possesses.
