Investment cements partnerships but marriage is a contract that can be enforced with shared memories of happiness and honeymoons as well as all your property, savings, hopes, and dreams. Those lovebirds entering the state of wedlock haven't yet been contacted through Facebook by an old flame who's on their fourth marriage. The wedding industry has never been better. Getting married in style once meant an ornate church ceremony followed by a large dinner and open-bar wedding reception with live music. The price tag for the procedure of getting married was astronomical and included bridal showers, limousines, dresses, rings, photographers, catering, and space rental for the reception. Marriage is not to be entered into lightly for those trying to make an impression on their social circle. More modern and complex times have made the cost of the divine perfect wedding prohibitive, especially when people might go through two or three marriages during their lives so the trend is to cut corners and do away with some of the more lavish traditions. A 2005 survey showed the average price of a wedding to be $30,000...a year's salary for many people. The compact digital sound equipment of the mobile disc jockey allows wedding parties to have high-quality recorded music and save the expense of paying four or five live musicians. This is good news for the next-generation master of ceremonies who has transportation, P.A. sound equipment, turntables, lights, and even fog machines. There was a time that the most special moments of love between two people had a soundtrack of favorite songs that formed the theme of the unique relationship from the time it began as innocent love, to the glorious moment of truth at the altar, and on to the rapid decline into screaming betrayal and bitter resentment that begins about a week after you get back from the Caribbean cruise and carries on like any normal marriage. Nostalgia is now a pile of credit card bills that last longer the story the ceremony was supposed to tell.
