Article marketing is and extremely effective means of generating traffic. First there’s the initial burst of traffic that accompanies a newly accepted article. Next the article directory traffic will level out, yet it just keeps coming. Finally as the impact of your article writing is recognized, your ranking on the search engines begins to rise. With that comes the highly targeted traffic only a high search engine ranking can produce. And all of this can be accomplished without spending thousands, or even hundreds of dollars. Sure article writing and submission takes time, especially if you focus on producing only top quality articles. Yet your time and labor invested today is rewarded months and even years to come. #1) Be sure you submit to the most popular article directories. The formula is really simple. Well written articles placed in the right article directories, leading to the right products are just very, very effective. Be sure the article directories you select are high traffic, and contain the appropriate article categories. After all, there’s no real advantage to spending hours writing and submitting articles on a unique topic when the directory you’ve chosen doesn’t even have the category or the accompanying targeted traffic. While a few of their readers might go ahead and read your articles, most will not be the targeted readers for your specific product or service. #2) 2nd rate articles do no good. If you aren’t willing to create a powerful, attention grabbing title and then create an article that stays consistent with that high standard, you are better off to use some other strategy to generate your traffic. Invest the time to gain training and experience in the world of writing. This is a competency that can be learned fairly quickly and easily. Once you’ve learned the basics, start practicing. Over time we can all become solid writers. It just takes knowing the right steps and then practicing. #3) Recognize article writing and article marketing aren’t a shortcut strategy. While you will see instant traffic, this is a long term commitment. Just as some people follow the latest and greatest get rich quick schemes, there are others who promote this strategy as a quick and easy means of achieving unbelievable results. While there are exceptions, for most this is a long term commitment in the long term success of an online business. Take the long view. Make a commitment and stay consistent to your writing. #4) The decisions about your selected niche and the accompanying keywords are directly linked to your overall success. Expect this to be a very tough road if you decide to compete head-on in niches with thousands and thousands of established players, or keywords that have either thousands and thousands of searches every month, or worse yet almost no searches at all. Be sure you understand the marketplace you are entering. Be sure you are careful to select the right keywords.
