Oh my God, it's just unbelievable!" I first spoke these words when I trekked to Kanchenjunga in 2010 and that I speak them every time I venture back into the hills. But I am still not very sure what it is that amazes and delights me every time I go trekking. The greatest mountain scenery on the planet is a great start, but I am aware that it is far, far more than that; it's something about the people I meet when I am at the Himalaya. It may sound a little corny, but I feel that the Himalaya is where I became a man. Not in the guy vs Wild manner, but in which I learnt respect, endurance, the way to be part of a team and how to lead if things get rough. Fundamentally, I learnt exactly the type of things you can't learn in a classroom and that is why I feel the mountains are somewhere for everyone, someplace anyone can become a much better person. One of the actual beauties of the Himalaya is that you don't need to become a crazed mountain nut to love them. The assortment of places, people, terrain, seasons, ecology and history mean you can gratify almost any attention for as long or short as you like. Unlike what many believe, there's always someplace great to see in Nepal anytime of year. Yes, there are a few activities which are somewhat season-specific however, the timing and terms of seasons fluctuates a huge amount across Nepal, let alone the entire Himalaya. So, I discover that first concentrating on the form of adventure I'd love to get answers most questions regarding timing, destination, duration and difficulty.
