Visiting the Usambara Mountains of Tanzania

When you visit a third world country it is important to know the money you spend, in fact there are some good ones and communities will be visiting. Your visit will change your life, or better. You do not even have to be included. If you choose to just relax and enjoy your vacation it is good - your vacation change lives for the better. However, if you choose your operator care and insight.

It is well worth the time and effort to travel to the less well-traveled areas of the country you visit. Here in Tanzania, one of these areas is Usamabara mountains. Here we are talking about the West Usambara Mountains.

Leaving Arusha and travel within a few hours by road, passing a lot of Kilimanjaro and then continue across the endless arid landscape you arrive at Mombo. Turn left knee almost magically transports you in an instant, the Usamabara mountains. Often they are called little Switzerland of Africa - do not choose to listen to the misleading talk. These mountains are in Africa and the experience to be taken, it should be possible and time allows.

If you travel to this destination, bite the bullet and travel to the very top of the mountain. At the very top is where the magic lies in a mountain, and a time to enjoy and explore. There are wonderful bird life here, and if it's not you're interested in, nor is it a great place to start is interested.

Here I will write about a few attractions you can visit. There are many young men and women who have trained leaders and it is worth the expense of paying a few dollars dissertations enthusiastic young Tanzanian who will share their mountains, culture and time. Africa is always a great time - you have to take everything slow, or you just miss the magic.

In pre-colonial days, these very fertile hills were many bloody battles between the Maasai tribes and residents Shambaa witness. There has never been defeated Shambaa Maasai people, and managed to hang on to their prized green surroundings.

"Mtce is a small village in the west end of the Usambara Mountains. Offers a spectacular view point with only 1000m drop to the savannah below. Mt Kilimanjaro is more than 240 kilometers on a clear day it is possible to see this huge mountain with snow crown, sitting on the Kenyan border .

When the first missionaries arrived in Mtce, of the 19th century, the people Shambaa leaders for them to sleep in an area that has been considered as a place of residence of the spirits of the dead "- local residents felt that the newly arrived missionaries would surly die in a haunted area . They did not, and so surprised, where local elders, the missionaries were given land on which to build the church. The church can be visited to this day.

, Tewes live in a village or tribal Shilaghi English "have-nots" for centuries these people were blacksmiths and as such were considered to be at the bottom of the social order the other clans were forbidden to marry the clan. "Taewon the hill country and almost every knife used in the Usambara Mountains comes of the Tawe. Today, most people in the village to earn a living from the blacksmith trade, regardless of clan or gender.

Traditionally, local people would extract iron from the soil, but the arrival of colonial times, it's scrap metal, and the locals have learned the art of re-cycling. Now is the step to return to the iron source and the foreign funding to help develop the art of Blacksmiths in this village.

Mvueni Falls is located high in the mountains. It is so quiet, no background noise, it has to be experienced to be believed. It is possible to swim here, though the water is very cold. Mkuze River channel Mvueni waterfall, which is more than 2,300 meters above sea level. The river is moving down the mountains, and as it goes along Soni enters the water cascades dramatically toward the Pangani river, dropping more than 800 meters, within a couple of kilometers.
