Make Big Dreams and Little Wishes Come True at Disneyland Paris

Those of you who have a little dreamer in yourvmidst will earn a million parent points by booking a trip to Disneyland Paris. The place where dreams really do come true, Disneyland is the perfect choice for a family break, any time of year.

I visited with my two little princes one sunny May, to celebrate my youngest’s third birthday, and couldn’t have chosen a better birthday treat for a Disney-mad little boy.

Only a short plane ride from the UK, there’s no difficult journey to worry about as there is with Disneyland Florida. We spent less than an hour on the plane, and then 30 minutes on a short taxi transfer to the park – less time in fact than it takes my little one’s to watch Toy Story.

There are seven hotels to choose from at the Disneyland Paris Resort, from the grand, pink walled Disneyland Hotel located right at the gates of the park, to the natural environment of the Davy Crockett Ranch, with its log cabins and indoor waterworld.

Whatever you’re looking for from your Disney accommodation, the variety among the hotel types means that no matter what your little ones (and you!) are into, you’ll find your perfect Disneyland base.

Having two little boys who idolise Woody from Toy Story, the Wild West themed Hotel Cheyenne was an obvious choice for us. With an outdoor play area complete with teepees, a western themed restaurant and bar, and pony rides from right outside your room, Hotel Cheyenne is a fun, laid-back choice that’s particularly perfect for families with boisterous little ones.

From the minute we arrived, our little cowboys were in their element – particularly as they were greeted by their favourite character Goofy (one little wish ticked off on arrival!).

The character meet and greets are a particularly special part of a Disneyland stay, and staying in a Disney Hotel means that you get more opportunities to meet your favourite characters away from the park crowds. Highlights for my little ones were Sully from Monsters Inc and Woody, of course.

When you book your stay, or even day trip, at Disneyland Paris, you can get Disneyland tickets for each of the two parks – the Disneyland Park and the Walt Disney Studios park. You could save money on your tickets by visiting 5hop5.ie to find all the latest deals and voucher codes, allowing you to explore the parks for less.

Each park offers a different experience, and it’s preferable to allocate enough time to explore them both. If you’re only visiting for a day or two the park maps that can be found online, or in your hotel on arrival, can help you to plan your visit in order to get the most out of your time.

Here’s a little sneaky peak at what to expect from each magical park:

Disneyland Park

Disneyland’s magical kingdom is where you’ll find all your traditional Disney heroes and heroines, and rides based on the Disney classics.

This vast park is split into five different sections, making it easy for you to tailor your visit to your little ones preferences.

Main Street USA is the promenade leading down from the park entrance towards the four fun-filled lands that await. From the minute you walk through the gates you’ll be struck by the iconic pink Sleeping Beauty castle that rises from the end of Main Street like the sweetest of all confections – a thrilling moment for all wannabe princesses (small and not so small!).

Fantasyland is a homage to early Disney classics such as Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo and Pinocchio, and is also where you’ll find the world famous ‘It’s a Small World’ ride.

Frontierland is a wild west themed thrill fest with two of the park's scariest rides, Phantom Manor and Big Thunder Mountain; while nearby Adventureland is another one for brave adventurers, with the Indiana Jones runaway wagon ride and the Pirates of the Caribbean adventure boat.

Discoveryland is designed to be an exploration of space and time, with attractions for all ages including Space Mountain and the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast.

Walt Disney Studios Park

The Studios Park takes you behind the scenes of the magical world of cinema and television, and is crammed with shows, attractions and workshops to bring out your inner Walt Disney.

Concentrating more on Disney’s popular modern movies, the Walt Disney Studios Park boasts the all new Toy Story Playland, the Cars Race Rally for Lightning McQueen fans, and Crush’s (and Nemos!) Coaster.

Only at Disneyland can so many big dreams and little wishes come true in one short visit. Watch your children stare in wide-eyed wonderment, and make memories to treasure for a lifetime, on a magical family trip to the Magic Kingdom.
