When people book accommodations, they expect their inn of choice, as well as the guest rooms and the common areas will be furnished with standard hotel supplies. While different people have different standards, and what’s minimally acceptable will vary, there are certain basic hotel supplies that the public assumes will be in any guest room, no matter where they stay. A comfortable bed, quality linens, absorbent bath towels and complimentary toiletries are just a few of the hotel supplies that are standard in most guest rooms. The fact of the matter is the hotel supplies are the foundation of the hospitality business. They set the ambiance for, and make a statement about, the hotel itself to guests. Every aspect of a lodge, especially the guest rooms, should reflect comfort, warmth and value. In other words, it should be inviting. One of the things that makes a room inviting is the cleanliness of it. When you smell nothing or a light, pleasant scent, you know the room has been cleaned recently and thoroughly using quality hotel supplies. This indicates that the housekeeping staff cares about the tiny details. While a guest won’t typically see the housekeeping staff, a clean, fresh, crisp guest room indicates that they care about what they do and that each guest matters. Now more than ever before, people are paying attention to what they’re getting for the price they’ve paid. They want to see quality in the hotel supplies used to furnish their guest room. Guest bathrooms furnished with hotel supplies like a durable, well-kept shower curtain hung on a curved shower bar for extra space, soft, absorbent toilet paper, scented shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion, super absorbent, fluffy bath linens and a hair dryer make a great first impression. Guests who have commented on their vacation have said that, within the guest room itself, the bed, including the sheets and comforter on it, and the other related hotel supplies speak for the room. The smaller hotel supplies, though, are just as important. A coffee maker, brand name coffee, coffee cups and a hotel information binder are hotel supplies that are noticed, used and appreciated by the average guest. Hotel supplies matter and every guest has different preferences so if every need is at least considered, chances are high most guests will be pleased. When it comes to details, it is hard to overdo it, especially when it comes to hotel supplies. When a guest visits an inn, they have often chosen it, at least in part, for the amenities, which often include the hotel supplies, as amenities are more than just the pool and fitness center. If a room is not up to par or the pool, for example, fails to meet expectations or is not available, it has been known to affect a guest’s experience. The details, especially the least among them, matter a great deal. There are many things over which hoteliers and their staffs have little or no control so why not concentrate on, and use, hotel supplies as a tool with which to impress where possible with? People tell family, friends and co-workers about their vacations. So, when you’re putting together a guest room or considering hotel supplies, remember the details as they do make a difference and they’re presence is appreciated.
