On-Page Optimization: Guide to E-commerce SEO Part 4

Search Engines
From the beginning of this month, we have been learning about various aspects to enhance the SEO of e-commerce website. Continuing on the same, we have come up with new chapter in our guide that relates to On-Page Optimization of e-commerce sites.

According to a renowned SEO company in Arizona, on-page optimization is one of the core requirements to make site rank better on the search engines, and to do so, there are 8 different aspects. Let us look at those:

  1. Keyword Optimization: Make sure that every webpage or blog post is well optimized with the keywords. There are different locations, where keywords have to be weaved strategically. These locations are:

  • The page title
  • Headers
  • Subheaders
  • Paragraph copy
  • Product descriptions
  • Image file names
  • Image alt tags
  • Meta title and description
  • URLs

Tip: Be careful with the URLs of the webpages. Instead of numbers, there ought to be keyword enriched phrase or title.

  1. Site Structure: E-commerce websites can be complicated & confusing with improper architecture. If you do not want to piss of the customers, then keeping the architecture flawless & simple is important.

Any e-commerce website must have a flawless architecture, i.e. in few clicks only visitor should be able to reach at desired product page from the home page. Also, the architecture must be based on the targeted keywords, as this is ideal from the perspective of search engines as well.

  1. Internal Linking: To link one page of the website to another page is beneficial in terms of SEO. With this internal linking, one can create own anchor text, which is very important to get rankings on the search engines. Also, if possible, submit a sitemap as that would make easier for the search engines to crawl the webpages.

Tip: Be careful when internally linking your webpages. The webpages must not be packed with internal links; otherwise, the website would be termed as suspicious by the algorithms. Also, try to create variety in every anchor text in order to get the reward in rankings from Google.

  1. Usability: Usability factor is to make the visitors happy and stay longer at the website, which also makes enhances the possibility of visitor converting into the customer. It is not easy to provide good user experience to the visitor, as one has to consider numerous aspects, but if it is done, one can expect a rise in sales. For ultimate user experience, along with architecture, the web design firm must also pay special attention on the checkout process.

Tip: By adding a live chat feature, one can enhance the site usability factor to a great extent.

  1. 5. Mobile Version of Website: Mobiles and tablets have completely changed the shopping scenario of today’s world. People have shifted to mobile shopping to a large extent. So, if you can work upon launching the mobile version of the website, then it would be an added advantage for your business.
  1. Customer Reviews: When buying a product from e-commerce website, customer reviews for particular website plays a convincing role. Customer reviews not only convince other people to buy the product but it is good in terms of SEO, as reviews add on to the site content, and when these are updated gradually then the site gets fresh content. And this is what Google loves.

Tip: Make your customers post a review on the site and in return, you can reward them with discounts on next purchase. Such tricks keep your customers as well as SEO happy.

  1. 7. Social Media Integration: Your e-commerce website would be incomplete without an engaging social media website. With an active involvement on social media sites, it is easy to enhance the community, engage with the customers, and share latest content; and all this is good in terms of SEO.

Tip: Selection of social media site is important. Sites like Facebook & Twitter are no doubt popular, so going with them is not a bad deal; however, you ought to understand the intricacy of SEO and also engage in the social media that would benefit the most.

Forbes says, “Google has been explicit that social signals play a role in its algorithm. Twitter and Facebook matter some, but many of the search results from both networks are restricted. Therefore, the network that carries the most weight is Google+.”
