So, you decided to get married, and now you’ve got to come up with a few vacation destinations for your honeymoon. Easy, right? Well, not exactly. See, everyone who’s been married for a minute will tell you that making a final call on taking a trip somewhere takes a lot more planning than you might think. Factor in the last eighteen months of our collective global difficulties, and you’ve got a recipe for a honeymoon planning headache of epic proportions. But you’re newly married, all cuddly, and everything is rosy and awesome. And this is your honeymoon. It’s going to be awesome by default. We’ve seen how these trips go on TV and in movies. Finding the right destination for your honeymoon should be as simple as picking a spot that sounds good to both of you, booking a room at a hotel for a few days & nights, and then anything goes. Of course, it’s never that easy. Just like the rest of your wedding, every detail needs to be thought ahead of time. The last thing you want is for this special time with your new life partner to be spoiled because you decided to wing it in the planning department. Some of the reasons may be sentimental, while others are sorta ‘bucket list’ in nature. Either way, talk about things as thoroughly as possible. Go Big But Have Common Sense - Since it’s your honeymoon, you’re likely planning to have only one of them in your life. As such, why not think big about where you’d like to go? Maybe a whirlwind European tour sounds like fun. Heck, a Mediterranean cruise might just be the ticket. Still, though, as big as you want to go, you still have to keep yourselves grounded. After all, at some point budget kinda starts being a deciding factor in things. Length of Trip - One other thing to remember about planning any trip is finding out how long you actually have to travel. Honeymoon or not, each of you probably has a job you have to get back to. As much as a month-long excursion around the world might be cool with your sweetheart, you may not have that kind of time off from work. Finally, and this is key, be sure to remember the reason for trying to decide between vacation destinations for your honeymoon — each other. Wherever you choose to go, don’t lose sight of trying to spend as much time with each other as possible. It can be tempting to get caught up in the touristy stuff or simply be frazzled by trying to do too much to make a trip be “worth it” because you spent money to go. But are you actually getting quality time with one another? So long as you keep that one quality in mind, you should be fine just about anywhere you want to go.
