There are many popular products available today that promises to increase a person’s attractiveness over the opposite sex, giving them the advantage to seduce the opposite sex for love or for a simple one-night stand.
Although many are not convinced of this, these products are effective. This is because most of these products use a popular chemical extract that are usually secreted by humans for attraction. This is pheromone, such as the popular pheromone cologne.
What is a Pheromone? Pheromone, according to scientists, is a chemical secretion or excretion which is usually is a secreted or excreted chemical factor that triggers a social response in members of the same species. Pheromones are chemicals capable of acting outside the body of the secreting individual to impact the behavior of the receiving individual.
Although more commonly known among animals and insects, humans have also been proven to produce pheromones which can also affect the receiver’s behavior, particularly with its effect as an aphrodisiac.
Pheromones in Humans There are a number of evidences today that suggest the existence of human pheromones. One of those was of Martha McClintock of the Chicago University where her studies pointed out those human pheromones can affect a woman’s menstrual cycles.
According to her studies, a whiff of a woman’s sweat can relatively affect another woman’s menstrual cycle. It was found that it caused their menstrual cycles to speed up or slow down depending on the time in the month the sweat was collected: before, during, or after ovulation. Therefore, this study proposed that there are two types of pheromone involved: "One, produced prior to ovulation, shortens the ovarian cycle; and the second, produced just at ovulation, and lengthens the cycle".
However, other than its effect in a woman’s menstrual cycle, a whiff of man’s sweat can also trigger a special social response in women. This is when pheromones work as aphrodisiac.
Pheromones as Aphrodisiac Although there is still no solid proof to the effectiveness of human pheromones as aphrodisiac, many researchers have agreed human pheromones do affect how a man and woman interact with each other, passionately.
Some research suggest that the man’s source of pheromone was from the sweat coming from their arm pits, while women secrete their pheromone from their scalp, which is why men usually loves to smell a woman’s hair.
Eventually, scientists had studied on how to use human pheromones to increase a person’s attractiveness. This is when pheromone products, such as pheromone cologne, were developed to enhance a person’s attractiveness, giving him/her the advantage to attract the opposite sex easily.
