TaylorMade has released the next installment in the Rocketballz series, the RBZ Stage 2. It has a center of gravity that is lower and more “forward”. The Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 driver combines a lower and more forward CG location, a more aerodynamic head shape and an expansive, 4,100 square millimetre club face to promote up to nine more yards for better players compared to the first generation RBZ driver. Characterised by its unique crown graphic which enhances alignment, the RBZ Stage 2 driver also features TaylorMade’s Loft-Sleeve technology, which gives players the ability to easily tune loft and club face angle to fit their swing. The Tour version has an even lower center of gravity than the normal version. This is less forgiving, but rewards accurate high-swing-speed golfers with lower trajectory and better ball roll. Although the RBZ 2 is not as adjustable as Taylormade’s new flagship driver, the cheap R1 driver, it still features a hosel design with 1.5 degrees of range in loft. “It’s hard to imagine bringing a driver to market that out-performs the original RocketBallz driver,” said Todd Beach, Vice President of metalwoods R&D. “Making the head of the RBZ Stage 2 driver more aerodynamic while also making the clubface larger was a tremendous challenge and succeeding was critical to promoting performance that’s superior to the first generation RBZ driver for sale.” My longest drives in Club Wars was a tie between the RBZ Stage 2 and the Ping G25 driver for sale at 315 Yards, but personally, the Stage 2 has been a much better driver. I was in the same boat and thought I'd feel like a goob swinging the club and people seeing me. But quickly enjoyed them as an alignment aid, which they were intended for and now I really like it! The Stage 2 outperformed my numbers for last year and surpassed my 2013 Club Wars averages to be in the top list, if not on top. I am getting great spin and roll out numbers with the Stage 2, and with the low spin, shaping shots is pretty predictable and stay in play(and deep). The setup is still 46 inches, and I'm not a fan of longer shafted drivers, but I was really able to work my swing comfortably with the Stage 2, which has been a problem with other longer cheap golf clubs this year. Which all this also might be the reason for the 1-2MPH's gained in my swing speed on average. All in all, the RBZ Stage 2 is in a battle for the bag. It is deep and really worked well for me. If you already know exactly what loft/face angle you like, go with the RBZ 2.
