Justin Rose ended 17 years of hurt for England in the majors last night with US Open glory at Merion Golf Club. The TaylorMade and Ashworth Golf staffer, who clinched a nerveless two-shot victory over Jason Day and Phil Mickelson, pointed to the heavens after tapping in for par at the 72nd hole - a salute to his late father Ken, who passed away in 2002.
Rose’s bag included Taylormade R1 driver, RocketBladez Stage 2 fairway wood for sale, a combination set of RocketBladez Tour and Tour Preferred MB irons and three ATV wedges. The 32-year-old South African-born Englishman also became the first player to win a major championship with TaylorMade’s new Lethal ball.
Down the stretch, Rose hit two critical iron shots, highlighted by his tee shot on the 229-yard par-three 17th - with a RocketBladez Tour 6-iron - and his 240-yard approach on the long par-four 18th - with a cheap Taylormade RocketBladez irons. Rose also wielded the new 37-inch counterbalanced Spider Blade putter featuring a short-slant hosel, which helped him master the treacherously fast greens.
He also wore one-of-a-kind Ashworth Golf Cardiff footwear featuring his initials (JR) and his children’s names (Leo and Lottie) on the heel patch, in celebration of Father’s Day. The win marks the 20th worldwide victory for the TaylorMade’s R1 - the most adjustable driver TaylorMade has ever created. It also coincides nicely with the launch of the brand's limited edition Taylormade R1 Black driver.
“For three years we have only made white drivers but we've have heard from a number of golfers who just prefer the look of black,” said TaylorMade's President and CEO, Mark King. “Our commitment has always been to provide golfers with the best performing golf equipment. The R1 Black gives players who prefer that colour access to our industry leading technology.”
Similar in its technology to the white version, launched earlier this year to wide acclaim, the R1 Black driver, claims TaylorMade, features the greatest range of adjustability of any driver it has produced. R1 golf clubs for sale offers golfers 12 loft settings and seven face-angle positions. It also has two moveable weights to assist shot shaping. All this allows it to be tuned upto 168 different ways to specifically fit a player’s swing and optimise distance and accuracy.
