THINK LIKE A FISH In order to read the river you need to think like a fish. But be careful, that fish brain is pretty smart. Most of us can figure it out because, when we sit at the kitchen table, we don't want the chair to be too high or too low, too close or too far away. It's too much work to reach out or lean back, or to bring the fork up or down to our hungry mouth. Don't you suppose a wily trout wants to feed with as little work as possible? As you look down the current, read the river. Is there a pool in sight where a hungry trout can hardly move a fin and stay in place? Where a gill watering tasty-tid-bit will float down the stream and be trapped in that pool at just the right angle? That's enough to make any trout waggle its tail. Just the thought of it makes me waggle mine. Come on fellow angler; let's start reading the river by thinking like a fish. Are you with me? Think of a well-witcher searching for water on a piece of property with an uncanny 6th sense. You too have a divining rod, that fishing pole you have in your hand, now go out there and witch for that elusive trout. When that pole begins to twitch with anticipation you will know you are close. You’ve got to keep a sense of humor because no matter how much you think you know you still don’t know enough to out-fox a fish. “Lord, keep us humble!” MH Marketing exists to motivate families to spend more time in the great outdoors
