Condominiums became popular in the Philippines because of its modern benefits while houses are still known to offer housing for the average Filipino. So what makes these types of housing popular? Condominiums: A Modern Type of Housing According to many real estate experts, condominiums were only recently introduced in the Philippine market compared to other types of housing such as apartments and townhouses. However, condominiums became even more popular compared to these types of housing, particularly with houses. This is because condominiums were the right type of housing in which many Filipinos are looking for in today’s modern and fast-paced lifestyles. There are two types of condominiums in the Philippines which include the typical type of condominiums found in the city and those condominiums found in the outskirts or even in the provinces. Both of these types of housing are considered as modern, but offer different types of advantages for its residents. Condominium in the City The advantage of living in a condominium unit found in the city is not only because of its luxurious living space, but also because of its accessibility to key locations in the country, such as business and commercial districts. Because of this, residents can enjoy the luxury of living within walking distance from their workplaces as well as popular entertainment areas in the district, such as malls and other popular “hang-out” place. Condominium in the Country Side These types of condominiums are known to offer modern living spaces for the modern Filipino family. Compared to condominiums in the city, these types of condominiums are known to offer the environment necessary for their growing children such as its peaceful surrounding, wide open spaces, as well as with its amenities such as swimming pools, gyms, recreational parks, and playgrounds. Disadvantages The disadvantage of living in a condominium, however, is with its expenses. Other than being one of the most expensive types of Philippines properties, condominiums are also known for its monthly fees called condo fees in which residents are obligated to pay. These fees are normally used for the maintenance of their condominium. Houses: A Traditional Housing Houses are considered as a traditional type of housing in the Philippines. Part of the reason is because these types of Philippines properties are the basic type of housing in the Philippines. However, though not as popular as condominiums in terms of providing modern benefits to its residents, the number of new houses in the Philippines had kept on growing. This is because houses are known for its affordability. Because not all Filipinos can afford to buy a condominium unit or even a townhouse unit, these typical types of houses became in demand because of its affordability which also led to the growth of houses in the Philippines. Another advantage of its affordability is that many new houses offers a new terms of payment which made these houses more affordable compared to renting an apartment.
