I've been compiling a list of famous cats for my website PetNum.com for some time now. I know which my favorites are, but I wondered which are the most famous overall. There are so many great famous cats that I'm doing this in four groups, and then I'll do a final round with the top cats from those groups. The most famous cats (based on online chatter) with names starting with the letter H to M are: 10. Mrs Norris , from Harry Potter books and movies 9. Maru, the box loving cat in online videos 8. Miles, from Emily the Strange 7. Mystery, from Emily the Strange 6. India, President George W Bush's cat 5. Morris the cat from 9Lives advertisements 4. Jules, from the Mutts comic strip 3. Kitty, Cartman's cat on the animated series South Park 2. Mittens, from the animated movie Bolt ...and the most famous cat on this list is... 1. Isis, Catwoman's cat in Batman and Catwoman Comic Books Cats not ranking in the top 10 were Marilyn from the tv show Prison Break, Kimba the White Lion from the animated series, Maurice from the book the Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, Koko from Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who..." mystery novel series, Mooch from the Mutts comic strip, Macavity from T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Mister from the Dresden Files book series, Leopold the Cat from the 1970s Russian Cartoon, Jock who was Winston Churchill's cat, Jiji from the anime movie Kiki's Delivery Service, Mr Bigglesworth from the Austin Powers movies, and Jinx from Meet the Parents. So cats from all types of media and even real life made the top 10. I was a little surprised that Isis was numer one, but that just shows that you should never underestimate the popularity of comic books. I compiled this list by searching for the names listed on a number of search engines and ranking them by the number of web pages, discussion forums, photos, videos, etc that are available online.
