The bridal shower is a happy event that sets the tone for the wedding. But more than that, it is a celebration of a coming event that will change the life of the bride and everyone around her. A bridal shower is recognition of this change and is meant to be a fun, celebratory time that brings together family and friends in a party atmosphere. Although the shower itself only lasts for a few hours, having the right food and drink is important to the festivities. The good news is that you do not have to serve full meals, only tasty appetizers for your guests. However, serving the right type of food is an important part of the event and what follows are a few tips to help make this aspect of your shower the best it can be. Serving the Right Food Finger foods are the order of the day, just be sure to have some napkins or small plates so that your guests can load up on the goodies. The good news is that for those on a budget there are plenty of great finger foods that are easy to make and cost relatively little to create. Fruits, Vegetables & Dip: You can’t go wrong with this combination as it is easy to prepare and serve. However, it can be more expensive than making other types of foods, so be sure to look over your budget before making the choice. Appetizers: You can create simple appetizers from all types of foods, just choose one that is easy to make so that you can have plenty on hand. Try to avoid the type that leaves a mess as your guests will probably be well dressed for the occasion. Serving the Right Drinks You have a number of options when it comes to serving the right type of drinks at your shower. It will depend on what your venue allows as some places will not let in outside drinks including water. So, if you have free reign over what to serve, then here are some ideas. Alcoholic & Non-alcoholic Beverages: Not everyone is going to want an alcoholic beverage, so you will need to have both available for your guests. Also, you will want water available as well for those who may not want the drinks that you serve. Create One Type of Drink: Don’t try to please everyone by serving different types of drinks, just choose one type to make things simple. If you make punch, then you can serve one with alcohol and the other without, just remember to mark which one is which. By choosing the right type of food and drink for your bridal shower, the result will be guests who are more than satisfied by what you serve. Be sure to have plenty on-hand and you can always give away the leftovers or keep them for yourself to serve with your own meals at home. The important part is that you create something simple and tasty for your guest for this wonderful event.
