Although the recent crazy over opt-in list building has proven effective – there are plenty of factors that can aid or take away from the effectiveness. From simple things such as the subject lines of your emails to the specific place you chose to keep your sign-up cards – everything plays its own key role in the success or failure of your opt-in list building attempts. And what vital differences that one carelessly planned move can make! In order to fully utilize the best opt-in list building – you must first understand what the concept actually is. This, in essence, is the art of making it very clear to your potential customers that they are signing up for a service or information source, and allowing them to choose if they would like to join. This is a completely different concept from having a traditional lead generation form on your website which most people do not realize when they are signing up for something ongoing that they will eventually have to opt-out of themselves. How to Succeed in Opt-In List Building: Be as specific and clear as possible on your advertisements. By presenting the facts that you will be using their email address to send them ongoing information for discounts, company events and third party marketing – you are starting your rapport with your database. What use is having an email address if the person does not trust doing business with your company? None! Another way you can effective satisfy your opt-in list building is the position of your displays. Let’s say you have a contact cards that you want your customers to fill out in order to achieve your opt-in list building goals. You want to make sure that you are placing the cards in direct eye view of your customers. Close to cash registers or along waiting lines and dressing rooms are always key places to position your marketing tools. Believe it or not, in restrooms may also be a great place to grab some attention! Aim for high traffic areas of your business that also call for some down-time for the customer. You won’t want to place them in a doorway where traffic is just flying by in passing. Use Your Customer Knowledge for Opt-In List Building: Let’s face it, no one knows your customers better than you do, right? When you developed your business idea, you had a pretty clear distinction of the type of target audiences which would be attracted to your company. So why not use that knowledge to enhance your opt-in link building? By understanding your customer’s needs, you have an advantage to their preferences. You are not going to use a tanning salon ad to generate business for your car wash, are you? Perfect example – you know that your product is commonly given as gifts by your customers to other potential customers. Make sure that the recipient of the gift is not left wondering where to get another! Place your opt-in cards inside the packaging so that when the gift is opened, so is your contact information! By effectively doing this – you open the doors for that recipient to get their information to you to ensure they do not miss out on anything you have to offer in the future! Opt-In list building is clearly the wave of the future!
