An inspiration to players worldwide, Gregory Raymer, nicknamed "FossilMan",named so for his habit of collecting fossils, which he uses as card protectors, is appreciated and respected by his colleagues from the world of professional poker. It is known especially for his victory at the 2004 WSOP main event and his sun glasses holographic sometimes they wear at the poker table. Born on June 25, 1964, in Minot, North Dakota, Raymer graduated Faculty of Law at the University of Minnesota. He worked as a lawyer specializing in industrial property for more than 10 years and currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, Cheryl, and their daughter, Sophie. He started playing poker at Foxwoods Resort Casino, when he was still a lawyer in the '90s. After graduating from Parkway South School in St. Louis, Raymer attended the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he majored in chemistry and Kappa Sigma fraternity became a member of. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a masters in biochemistry in 1989, and again at the University of Minnesota Law School in 1992. He later practiced law as a patent attorney for more than a decade, spending six years of his career in the legal pharmaceutical company Pfizer. In 2001, won the Seven Card Stud tournament and in 2004 succeeded the dedication earned him the poker world, winning the main event World Series of Poker. In 2005, showed that last year's victory was not pure chance, earning 25th place in the WSOP main event attended by no less than 5619 players. Also in 2005 he managed to rank 3rd in the British Poker Open, and in March 2006 won 2nd place $ 1,000,000 Guaranteed Tournament, organized by PokerStars. Currently part of Team PokerStars WSOP champions with the 2003 and 2005, and Chris Moneymaker and Joe Hachem. In 2005 Raymer also participated in the inaugural British Poker Open event, the largest live poker live event in British history. In September 2007, Raymer winning his first World Championship of Online Poker bracelet (WCOOP). WSOP 2009 No Limit Hold 'em event, Raymer finished 3rd and won nearly $ 800,000. In 2010, his live tournament winnings exceed 6.8 million dollars. A consistent player with an impressive reputation, Greg Raymer has gained a lot of experience over the years. Raymer says that his style of play was very much influenced by David Sklansky's book, "The Theory of Poker" where are the most important concepts of poker. Both smart and lucky, he knows how to combine aggression and mathematical calculations. Moreover, Raymer is one of the few players who knows how to win with humility and lose with dignity. Greg Raymer believes that a good poker player must learn to be disciplined and impassible. His advice for poker lovers everywhere are playing just as much as they can afford and read some strategy books before they sit at the table. Among his hobbies include collecting fossils (hence the nickname of FossilMan), and golf, but mostly likes to spend free time with his wife and daughter.
