The power of the moving picture is not something which is new to the advertising world, but it is one that has had rather a re-awakening. Since the early days of television video was used to sell products to the masses, and to great effect. Over the course of the decades, the advertising techniques became more subtle and sophisticated to keep up with an increasingly sophisticated public. At the turn of the century, we witnessed a revolution that, at the time, was unexpected. The World Wide Web took the world by storm, and quickly advertisers began using this medium to reach customers. Once again the format of the message started out crudely, as the technology behind the web did not allow much detail to be sent to browsers. This was due to the infrastructure and bandwidth, text and small images were transmitted at a slow enough speed without adding the additional burden of video. Video is particularly heavy on bandwidth, and it was not until this precious commodity became more ubiquitous that advertisers began to push video more heavily on the web. Now, video is a common part of many products and services marketing message. Videos are a great way to showcase a product in its best light. Text is great for intricate detail, and pictures can give customers an idea of how a product looks, but video can really show them how it works. Due to the increasing use of video, there is a tendency for people to assume that it is now easy to create videos. To some extents it is true, creating a video and publishing it is a lot easier thanks to sites like YouTube and easy-to-use video production software. What has not gotten easier is producing a good video. The skills are still required to make a video something which shows your company in its best light and not spark of unprofessionalism. It is for this reason that very few large companies make their own in-house videos, they employ the services of expert video production companies. The cost need not be particularly high, especially if the video is to be used exclusively on the internet. Choose a video production company that is skilled at making videos that take advantage of the web. They can create videos that make some kind of statement and can be forwarded on by people to their friends and followers – gaining you a larger audience.
