There are a lot of creative ways to add something lively and attractive to your kitchen and one of those are the kitchen curtains you choose to hang. Since so much time is spent in the kitchen anyway it makes sense to put a little extra thought in even the small details. There is a huge range of designs and styles to select from but to help you along here are a few that could lift your kitchen from dull to interesting. The following designs are a mix of shop bought ideas and designs that are easy and affordable to achieve yourself. - Customize the curtains you have – If you have plain curtains and you want to spice them up there are a number of quite easy things you can do. Add some lace or tassel to the bottom edge, sew on strips of different colored material to create some color and contrast with a band, or even add some embroidery to them. You can use any pattern or design you like and that suits your kitchen's style.
- Choose curtains in bold block colors – Just as some people have an accent wall in an otherwise neutral-toned room, you could use your kitchen curtains in the same manner. People will be drawn to them and admire them.
- Ombre patterning – Ombre is when there is a gradual blending on one hue of color into another. It is a popular look today and if you choose the right colors for your kitchen could be an amazing choice for the kitchen curtains.
- Turn blankets or tablecloths into curtains – If you need a quick fix, something to act as a decent looking curtain until you can find something you like, or if you are just on a budget you could take on an easy home project.
- A playful mix of colors – There are some colors that when mixed create an almost playful and lifting feel to a room. Blue and pink, neon green on grey, orange on lime green!
- Block Prints – Block prints are popular for all kinds of materials today, curtains, quilt covers, blankets and so on. They are attractive, can add more interest to the kitchen but are also still stylish and actually can be good for both modern styled homes and more traditional ones.
- Dark or light – If your walls are dark you may want to go for Cafe curtains that are lighter otherwise the room may feel dark and enclosing. On the other hand of the walls are light, darker colored curtains would look better. You should also consider how much light you want them to block out.
- Stripe out – stripes have been around for many years in home design and they likely always will be. You could go horizontal or vertical depending on what the walls are like where they will hang.
Summary Whatever design you choose for your kitchen curtains whether one of the above ideas or something else, make sure it is something you can live with since you will be seeing them a lot! Do not be afraid to be bold or creative. There are so many ways you can use them to brighten, lift, complement or enhance the room.
