The electric panel in your home is the Command Central for your electrical system operating in your home. Your electrical power can be turned on and off along with sending electricity to the outlets in your home. Some refer to as a breaker box. In the electrical panel you will find fuses or breakers, which will blow, or trip, when there is an over current or short. They respond this way when these two instances occur. The capacity of your electrical panel is measured in amps, which used to be sixty amps as the normal for residential electrical needs in the past but with today’s modern technology there needs to be more amps. When you contact electricians in Riverside County they will look at your electrical panel and let you know what upgrades need to be done. There are four indicators that can tell the homeowner and electrician when it is time to replace or upgrade your electrical panel. • Your homeowner’s insurance may demand that you install a new electrical panel • Frequent breaker tripping, lights that rapidly burn out or flicker, fuses blowing, etc. • You are planning to add more to the load that you current electrical panel has to deal with such as a major appliance purchase, remodeling that will increase the square footage of your home • You are planning to put your home up for sale it can be a big selling point if your electrical panel for the bathrooms and kitchen is upgraded. The electrical panels of today come in amps of one hundred, which presently is the minimum allowable, one hundred fifty, two hundred, or four hundred. The largest is not necessarily the best one to choose. It is also the most expensive. Electrician Riverside County will perform a home energy audit to know which size you will need. They may also find that you need upgrades too such as replacing or repairing existing wiring. The biggest motivation to upgrade your electrical panel is for safety. Yes, there are some older homes that still have the same electrical panels that were installed when the house was built new. They are still functioning but they do not offer the same level of protection. If it is determined that you need to upgrade or replace your electrical panel it is important that you have a professional electrician in Riverside County do the work. They know all the current electrical codes, have the experience, and the tools to do the job correctly. The electricians will have the proper building permits that are needed to complete the job. It is important to have this upgrade done as soon as possible because overloaded circuits can cause a fire.
