Despite the sagging economy in most of North America there are places where business can still prosper due to the spending power of the population. One such locale is Toronto, or to be more accurate the GTA or Greater Toronto Area, consisting of Mississauga, Vaughn, Scarborough, Brampton, North York, Etobicoke, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Whitby, and Oakville, It is the largest population center in Canada with over 5.5 million souls. Since there is more retail power in Toronto it is an obvious first choice for business operations that sell to the public. A group of entrepreneurs has chosen Vaughn as the best location for a super-sized pedestrian shopping mall with a trade show theme. IMPROVE Home Centre in the GTA is planned to total 400 trade show style booths displaying their products all year round in a pedestrian mall. Booths will be leased or purchased by companies who are related to the Home Improvement sector. Advertising will be done cooperatively under one brand; each tenant company would pay $200 per month for the advertising pool. Those companies who want to find out about reserving one of the booths can contact IMPROVE from their web site. The list is long of those who supply products and services to homeowners in their renovation activities. The booths are open to companies like interior decorators, flooring contractors, roofers, electricians, landscapers, security camera installers, plumbers, painters, home renovation financing companies and so on, Home improvement projects never seem to end. The IMPROVE Home Centre will allow one-stop shopping for all services and materials that the homeowner can order done or do himself with the products offered. This concept is new for Canada but has worked in Europe and we know how well they are doing now. The site that has been chosen is at the intersection of major highways so people can come for hundreds of kilometers around to discuss their needs with the appropriate company, then they will likely see other things of interest that they had been considering. This can result in more business for the other booths and a savings for the customer in terms of time spent and petrol used running around to complete their wish lists. Those who are building a new home will find architects, real estate people, home insurance providers, custom garage manufacturers, custom shower installers, asphalt companies for driveways, construction contractors, dumpster rental services, insulation, air condition, heating, counter tops, kitchen cabinet makers, and too many more to mention. No wonder owning a home is the average person's largest investment. In the case of the Toronto region a plethora of growing industries exist to cater to homeowners in the various elements of home building and renovation. Plans for investing in home ownership need to be made with housing contractors, architects, real estate salespeople, home insurance, mortgage firms, and home renovation loans companies. These companies can interact face-to-face with potential customers - of which there are many in Toronto. The region has full employment and people have funds available to spend on the home of their dreams. Author Pat Boardman writes this in reference to IMPROVE, a company developing a giant Toronto home improvement centre consisting of trade show booths open year round reserved by providers of everything from granite countertops to interior design and all home improvement industry related companies.
