The dining room is a central room in any house. It's where the family gets together to connect as they eat meals; it's the place for entertaining close friends and extended family. Dining rooms can be formal or casual. Whatever style is chosen, it's important to choose the right furniture to turn this space into a dining room that truly works. Since dining room furniture is a long-term investment and something that you’ll be using every day for many years, it makes sense to take some time before you purchase to consider exactly what you want and need from the furniture. When selecting dining room furniture, one of the first things to consider is what style of room you wish to create. For many families, a comfortable, low-key room works best. This is especially true in families with young kids. Select a table that will easily accommodate your family, plus guests if you entertain frequently. Generally speaking, a round table is ideal for a family of four to six people. If your family is larger, consider a rectangular one. But remember: you want a table where conversation can happen easily, without people having to yell down the table to be heard. Next, decide what material you would like to furniture to be made out of. Many people love the look and feel of a solid wood table. But it makes sense to see what else is on the market. Sometimes a rattan or metal table will be ideal. A dining room table is often sold as part of a set which includes matching chairs. This is an easy way to shop, but remember that you don’t have to buy the matching chairs. Sometimes it’s attractive to use chairs that complement the table but don’t match it exactly. When it comes to selecting the chairs, make sure you try them out. Above all, they need to be comfortable. If you’re not purchasing a set, you’ll need to make sure enough chairs will fit around the table. Also, make sure the seats are the right height. You want to feel comfortable when you’re seated at the table. If you’ll need extra chairs to bring out when guests come over, it may make sense to select chairs that can be stacked and stored in a garage or basement. If you have children, select a style of chair that can be easily cleaned. Take your time when selecting dining room furniture. It’s a big decision and it may take visiting several stores before you find what you’re looking for. Remember, you don’t have to stick with the tried and true. Try something a little different; you may just end up loving it. Fleur de Lys specialise in Office furniture chair and Indian furniture direct
