Futon covers not only define your futon by giving you the flexibility of changing the patterns to suit the occasion, but they also protect your investment from everyday wear and tear. They come in a variety of stylish patterns, styles and colors, and serve as a decorative center of any room. Also serving as a protective barrier for your furniture futon covers can not only mimic the ambience of the room they are made from polyester cotton, faux suede, leather, velvet and silk. Most are machine or hand washable, saving the trip to the cleaners. There are a few covers that limit you to spot cleaning or dry cleaning only. Your cover should be protected just as much as the futon itself. Regular cleaning will extend the life of the cover as well as the couch itself. Simply remove the cover from the mattress, find the tag that has the washing instructions. This will give you the correct settings and methods for washing your cover. Use stain remover on any stains, and make sure that the stain remover is safe for that material. In most cases, just machine wash according to the instructions on the tag. Dry the cover, again according to the instructions on the tag and let it air dry. Alternatively, you can also wash the cover using a sot sponge with the help of mild detergent and luke warm water. You can read endlessly about futons, futon covers and futon protection. On one hand the slip cover is there to do its job protecting your futon. On the other hand it can change the exact same piece of furniture into a showpiece by not letting the real quality of the piece show through. It really comes down to the amount of work and trouble that you are willing to go through to protect your futon. One thing we all know for sure. Anyone with a house full of kids or pets looks at a futon cover as a real money saver. With slipcovers the furniture is safe, and you will never feel bad about anything spilling or dropping on the sofa, it will save a lot of anger and aggravation and keep the house clean and neat, not to mention that you can use the slipcover to change the design of your home.
