By definition, tile saws are cutting tools of various shapes and sizes that are professional-grade and are specifically used to cut through tile. The most common applications for tile saws is making accurate cuts along tile flooring and granite countertops. Because the blades on tile saws are subjecting to a great amount of pressure and heat, diamonds are often embedded in the blades to improve the cutting aptitude. When using tile saws, a stream of water is used to prevent the blade and motor on these power tools from overheating. This stream of water on the blades of tile saws will also increase the life of them which means the user will get more jobs out of them. There are three basic divisions of tile saws most commonly used today: fixed-tray saws, sliding tray saws, and overhead rail saws. Fixed-tray tile saws are stationary and are used by the tile being pushed across the blade much like wood is pushed across a stationary table saw. Sliding tray tile saws are part of the intermediate category and are used when the tile is placed on rollers and moved across the saw blade. For larger projects, you may want to consider overhead rail tile saws which allow the large tile to remain in a fixed position while the blades is moved to make the cut. Which tile saws you choose will obviously depend on the material you are using and the scope of the project. If you have a simple job with smaller tiles, fixed tray tile saws may be what you are looking for. On the other hand, if you are cutting countertops, overhead rail tile saws may be what you need. The most common tile saws seen being used professionally are the sliding tray tile saws that can undertake a great majority of intermediate projects. These kinds of tile saws are popular because of their ability to make quick cuts and their relatively low cost. A plastic water tray is easy to carry, so moving these tile saws form job to job is simple as well. For quick and simple jobs, the most economical choice in tile saws should be a fixed tray model that will work quickly to get the job done. No matter what kind of tile saw you choose to use, water is needed to both facilitate cooling and to reduce the amount of dust that can be created. For large industrial projects, you will more than likely need the true work horse that is an overhead sliding blade saw. Because of the cost to purchase a tile saw, you may want to consider renting one for a do-it-yourself one time project. This will allow you to speak t a professional that will explain how a tile saw is used and also help pick one out for your specific job. Always look for a diamond blade wet tile saw, as this will be the easiest and most effective model for you to use, and also will allow you to create a beautiful new floor in your home.
