Today IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is not a new word for anyone. But a few years ago it was a mysterious procedure for infertility that produced test tube babies. Louise Brown was the first such baby born in England in 1978, conceived outside her mother's womb. IVF is the farther away the most common high tech fertility treatment available, accounting for more than 98% of all ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) procedures, a group of all fertility treatments that involve both the sperm and egg. How the IVF process works? The IVF process involves the forced production of follicles and eggs through adulatory stimulation that helps in producing multiple follicles and eggs rather than just one. Once the eggs are matured enough to retrieve, they are removed from the ovaries. After that, best quality sperm and eggs are carefully cultured in a laboratory. In this phase, any problems that might be encountered in natural process are eliminated. After several days (approx two or three days) of culturing the embryos, the best fertilized eggs are chosen for the implantation process. This selection has been made with the aim to improve the chances of successful conception. The resulting embryos are then transferred to the woman's uterus with the help of a transfer catheter (a long, thin and flexible tube with a syringe on one end). If embryos are attached to the uterine wall, a positive pregnancy will result. Success Rate of IVF procedure IVF is considered as the most successful fertility treatment option available for infertile couples. However the success rate of IVF depends on several factors such as the reason of infertility, your age and where you are having the procedure done. IVF success rate varies considerably by the program handling the case. On an average the pregnancy was achieved 29.4% of all cycles (higher or lower depending on the age of the woman). In order to get success in IVF procedures, make sure to discuss with your doctor about your pregnancy and delivery success rate in detail before starting the cycle. You should ask to get numbers in writing from the clinic before started and if they are unwilling to provide, consider going elsewhere as probably they have a low pregnancy rate. The cost of an IVF cycle, however, varies from clinic to clinic and country to country. The IVF cost in India is relatively lower than other foreign countries like UK and USA. The average cost of IVF is around $12,000 whereas some clinics also charging around $15,000 or more. Remember that an IVF program can be very expensive and have a low success rate, so never equate the price with quality, especially when it comes to IVF. IVF is one of the oldest assisted reproductive technologies, so while other ART procedures are relatively new, it has been used long enough for researchers to research on this procedure regarding health conditions of the children conceived through the same method. There is no medical problems have been linked to it so far. In addition researchers are continuously finding the ways to make the procedure more successful and better for infertile couples to help them in creating their family. http://www.infertilitysolutions.in/articles/ivf-treatments.html
