Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, a borough in Adams County is planning a myriad of activities for everyone during the summer month of July. Gettysburg is extremely famous for its three-day battle in 1863. However, in the present day, Gettysburg promises its residents and tourists alike, the time of their lives. Gettysburg has planned a month of fun and exciting activities that make summer even more fun than ever. The fun begins on Saturday the 29th of June when the Virginia Civil War 150 HistoryMobile rolls, into Gettysburg, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. This 53-foot tractor-trailer will be on display for 5 days with various exhibits for interested parties to draw together stories of the Civil War and Emancipation from those who lived it. The exhibit will be located at the Gettysburg Seminary Ridge Museum and will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. Entrance to the HistoryMobile is free. Furthermore, American History is celebrated in style at the American Civil War Wax Museum on the 5th of July at 7 pm with the History Music Festival “Cornets and Cannons”. This musical festival will host various musical groups from different genres who will “battle” with music. Musicians from various parts of the country will come together and play with either The Federal Composite Band, under Sergeant Major Kenneth J. Serfass, or The Band of The Army of Northern Virginia, under Principal Musician Jari Villanueva. The event will conclude with a joint performance of both the bands. A few residents of Gettysburg, including residents of the active adult community, The Preserves at Cumberland Village, were interviewed on their views of these events in Gettysburg. Mrs, M. Hawthorne expressed her happiness by stating “Gettysburg is always a place where something is happening so it is no surprise that these events are planned to make our summer a full one. I am looking forward to the reenactment of the Civil War battle of Gettysburg and to enjoying the music of the History Music Festival”. The Gettysburg 150th National Civil War Battle Reenactment is yet another event that can be experienced through the 4th of July to the 7th July. This is an event which is awaited with bated breath by many interested visitors and residents of Gettysburg as they get an up-close and personal look at cavalry, artillery and the personal experiences of soldiers during the Civil War. Over 15,000 soldiers and civilian re-enactors, 400 horses and 100 cannons will take part in re-creating the 1860s through battles, encampments and demonstrations to entertain guests and celebrate history. Gates open, and the adventure begins at 8.30 am and ends at 7 pm on the 4th of July. Tickets for the event can be obtained by visiting http://www.gettysburgreenactment.com/.
