Kidney dialysis is a life saving treatment for the patients, who are facing critical kidney damaged problems or renal failure disease. It not only helps patients to run their kidney functions properly, but provides them a chance to live a perfect active life. You can find various dialysis facility centres in your own state that not only offers you better dialysis treatment but makes you knowledgeable about what most essential cares you need to give to your health during the dialysis treatment. In general, these dialysis care centres provide two types of dialysis treatments one is haemodialysis -filtration and other peritoneal dialysis care. The selection of the treatment depends upon one’s conditions. Haemodialysis Treatment This type of dialysis treatment is given three times in a week and works more quickly in comparison to peritoneal dialysis treatment. In this treatment a special filtering machine is connected to your body to get entrance to your blood vessels. Then a fistula is connected to your vein and the blood comes out of the patient through a flexible tube. The filtering machine removes wastes and excess of fluids from blood and keeps an accurate level of minerals and vitamins in the blood. Once it is purified by the machine, it is returned to the body. How long a haemodialysis session you need to go for depends upon following points: • Actual condition of your kidney • The quantity of fluids and wastes gained in your last dialysis session • Patient’s weight • The type of haemodialysis machine that is being used during the treatment Peritoneal Dialysis Treatment Peritoneal dialysis is a treatment that gives you more control and you can take this treatment yourself at your home by following some easy instructions and tips provided by your dialysis technicians or nurses. In this treatment a catheter is used to fill your abdomen with dialysis solution and this solution absorbs the wastes and extra fluids from your blood and the solution is drained from the body. The peritoneal dialysis treatment is required to take every day in 4 to 6 hours. The time for a peritoneal dialysis treatment session lasts for 30 to 40 minutes. There are main two types of peritoneal dialysis treatment one is CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) and second CCPD (Continuous Cycler-assisted Peritoneal Dialysis). CAPD treatment does not require a machine. A catheter is used to place the dialysis solution into your abdomen and you can do your every day work normally during the treatment. While in CCPD treatment a cycler is used to fill and drain the dialysis solutions from patient’s body. This treatment is generally given to the patients while they sleep.
