To get taller is the dream for many people. There are tens of thousands of us around the world today who are dissatisfied with our height. Despite every possible effort we make to look taller,we remain the same height and as a consequence continue in an unhappy frame of mind with our stature. Some may consider surgery to get taller. Unfortunately, this isn't a wise decision in my humble opinion. There are lots of obvious risks involved when you undergo surgery, especially when the surgery is not for health or life threatening reasons. Additionally the huge cost, long recovery time and considerable pain should be enough to pursuade most of us to reject this option. Throw into this mix the potential for medical complications that can happen after the surgery is finished, then you can understand that surgery is really not an option. We should talk a little bit about bones and the growth of bones. When we are infants, many of our bones consisted of cartilage and didn't ossify until we grow older when they fused into solid bone. During puberty, growth plates located on the ends of our longer bones are part of what causes growth spurts, a common phenonemon as we grow. There are many claims out there, that certain exercises and stretches can lengthen our bones. These claims, unfortunately, are not true. Once we have finished growing there isn't anything we can do to lengthen our bones, aside from surgery. And as we have discussed above this is not a sensible option to get taller. How does the surgery work? Essentially, your bones are broken. Metal plates then hold your bones in place, with a gap between them. Gradually, your bones grow to fill the gap, which results in an increased height. This is a somewhat simplistic version of events, but you get the message!! However, there have been countless instances of complications as a result of using surgery to get taller. These include limb paralysis, bone twisting, bones breaking, nerve damage, severe infections, post-operative stress and worse. In addition to this, having the surgery to increase height can be very difficult to receive. There are few doctors who are qualified and indeed prepared to perform such unnecessary surgery. As the surgery is very, very expensive, finding such a doctor and making the travel arrangements to have the surgery performed will only make an already financially crippling procedure even more costly. Forget it. In reality, it's better to try safer alternatives to surgery to increase height. You can do this by exercising if you haven't reached the end of puberty yet. After that, exercising won't lengthen your bones, however it will strengthen your muscles and give you a more slender appearance, thus helping with the impression that you're taller. You will also remain fit, strong and healthy - not a bad thing! All in all surgery is not an option to get taller. To learn more, visit my website http://www.gettalleronline.info Mike Matthews
