Do you ever feel frazzled? Do you ever feel like yanking out your hair because the stress of daily life is wearing on you? If so, there is a way to calm your nerves and help you handle whatever life throws at you. It's called nutrition. The best part is that improving your nutritional intake isn't all that complicated, and yet it will enhance the overall quality of your life. The key to improving your diet is to become aware of what you've been putting into your body and how it's affecting your overall health. The next step is to educate yourself about the harm that overly-processed food can cause you versus the benefits of eating real whole foods. The final step is to plan your meals—and snacks—a head of time, so you aren't as tempted to grab something on the go. Given a little time, you will notice that your ability to handle stress is improving, and your body will thank you wholeheartedly. To get started, take a moment to think about what you ate for breakfast this morning? Was it a cup java and a sugar-filled muffin? Was it a left-over piece of pizza from last night's dinner? Or did you skip breakfast altogether? In today's fast-paced world, it's often tempting to eat the most convenient thing in your frig or cupboard, even if the food supplies little nutrition, but doing so on a regular basis could backfire on your health. Add long-term stress to the mix, and you are a time bomb waiting to go off. Sugar and white flour products are two of the biggest health destroyers because they cause nutritional deficiencies. If you're under stress, you need to be sure your adrenal glands are being supported, and these health-busters (sugar and flour) are not doing you any good. If you do decide to eat them on occasion, have them with some form of protein. You may want to limit your intake of dairy products as well, and, of course, caffeine. What foods are recommended for combating stress? The best diet for this is one that's full of raw foods, such as fruits and vegetables, nuts and legumes, and multigrain. These will supply many vitamins and minerals that your body needs to rejuvenate it. You will also need plenty of fiber to cleanse your bowels. In addition, you may need to take calcium and magnesium, along with the B vitamins. However, if your body is low on B vitamins, supplements may not be adequate. In this case, consider intramuscular injections under a doctor's supervision. Remember to plan your weekly menu ahead of time. If you have your grocery list written up, you will be sure to have the ingredients on hand when you need them. No more grabbing on the go. The difference a nutritional diet makes is two-fold. You will feel amazing, and you will let the small stressors of life roll off you as if they are nothing. --------------------------------- Alexandru F Bobica is an author, business owner, and social media promoter.
