Innovations According to Facebook product designer Lee Bryon, currently running several mobile sites was affecting the company’s ability to innovate because there were so many differing code bases. So now it will launch a new unified mobile site instead of the old touch.facebook.com and m.facebook.com. As part of the new m.facebook.com, touch-screen users will see a touch-friendly interface that adapts to the phone’s hardware capabilities. This may mean, for example, that a phone with no GPS will not include the places check-in feature. Meanwhile, users with feature phones will simply see a scaled down version of the mobile site. The hope is that thousands of different devices will be able to use Facebook accurately, irrespective of their features – such as whether or not they have keyboards, tiny screens and so on. Get hooked up The mobile Facebook redesign is being carried out to make life easier for phone users, and so it shouldn’t matter which device you use in order to make the most of the network. Therefore anyone in the market for a new handset doesn’t have to think about their Facebook experience and can instead focus on other features such as the quality of the camera; battery capacity; and user interface.
