The first in the series of Be Able books by Lorraine Capon is based on coping ideas to help run the home for working women. For such an inexpensive book it is packed with useful ideas to help the working woman to get on with her life and to deal with any problems before they come along and nip them in the bud, so to speak. When you first start reading the book and see the index of pages you will be astonished by the depth of coverage, especially about subjects that you will probably never even have considered. It goes without saying that when you are working you don't really want to arrive home from work and be presented with a long list of problems that could have been sorted out before they even became a problem with a little forward planning. This Be Able book for the working woman really does delve into everything and perhaps one of the most notable subjects is how to deal with your children and how to make them responsible for their own actions. For example, Lorraine describes how a child should be given an agreed plan of action to ensure that they stay on the straight and narrow, and if they are naughty it should be discussed what they have done wrong and how they can rectify that in the future. It sounds simple and straightforward but you would be surprised how much more effective it is compared to shouting at children to tell them what they have done wrong. This is really the theme throughout the book and just after reading a few pages you will realise what powerful stuff it is and when you have read number one in the series it is highly recommended that you have a look at what the rest of the books have to offer.
