If you work in a daycare setting, than the odds are that you already know the importance of having a few inexpensive step stools available for your client's use. Kiddos can almost always use an extra boost for getting water from the fountain, reaching taller cubbies and for almost everything to do with the restroom. Just in case you were wondering if they were worth the investment, consider the different ways you can enhance safety with a step stool in your daycare facility: - At the water fountain. If you are tired of your daycare kids making a mess at the water fountain, look to see if they can properly reach the water spray. If not, give them a small step stool to use to elevate them to the proper position to eliminate dribbles and messes in the future. - When putting away toys. Part of your job as a daycare leader is to help the kids learn responsibility. Putting away their playthings is a great way to start. But, sometimes, it can be difficult for smaller children to reach the shelves and cabinets where toys are stored. If a child finds the job too frustrating, the odds are they will give up. This teaches the wrong lesson. If you notice a smaller child stretching to reach to put their things away, pull out a step stool and show them how to use it to reach the shelf or container they need. - At the sink. Washing hands after using the restroom or before sitting down for a meal or snack is very important in a school setting; especially with young children. Unfortunately, if a child can not reach the sink easily they tend to rush through their hand washing or make a mess while doing it. Be sure that you have ample step stools available at each sink area to make washing up less of a chore. For any step stool you provide for the children, make sure they have sturdy, non-skid feet and are well-balanced. While the kids need the boost, they also need to be able to reach things safely. Teaching children how to care for themselves and their belongings are important skills taught in every daycare and preschool. Be sure to provide the right types of materials and tools necessary (like step stools) to make the learning process go more smoothly. Looking for a safe step stool for the kids at daycare? Ed Jenkins recommends Step Stool Supply for a wide selection of step stools for kids.
