Transformers, the Hollywood blockbuster movie, came to us on July 3, 2007 with huge hype. To that end, the robots-meet-humans sci-fi like thriller over-delivered with impressive action sequences and state-of-the-art special effects. Moviegoers loved it, and in fact, the latest Transformers movie is steady at an impressive 7.5 out of 10 on IMDB.com, the Internet movie database. With three Oscar nominations, over a dozen awards and widespread popularity for the first non-animated Transformers movie -- you can bet that Transformers figures are back in demand. The question is, however, with the new movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, due out in June of 2009 -- will it spark enough interest in the industry to renew the popularity of transformer action figures indefinitely? Or, is this peak in demand for transformers figures a short-lived spike that will die down after the second Hollywood action-film releases next year? It's a natural phenomenon that becomes even more apparent in this era where we have a direct link between our central nervous system and our computer's Ethernet cable -- interest for certain commodity, service, or information about a TV show, for instance, peaks when a big event is happening, just happened, or is going to happen in the near future. For instance, it's nearing Christmas time right now, and you can bet your bottom dollar that people are scouring newspaper ads, flyers, and you looking online for Christmas gifts. In the USA, we just held what is considered an historic election, and it is undeniable that anything "Barack Obama" is a hot seller -- T-shirts, bumper stickers, collector's plates -- it was a large national event, thus there has been an upsurge in the demand for anything and everything related to the event. With this in mind, does the two-time, back-to-back, induction of everything "Transformers" into society lend to an ongoing demand for certain thematically-related items? Will this skip-a-year movie-going experience be enough to reintroduce the 1980s transformer action figures into the lives of the 2010 generation? Now, it's obvious that there was, and will be, an uptick in demand for Transformers figures -- that's just part of the natural phenomenon of what were speaking about here today. However, these surges in demand traditionally are short lived. Once the initial phase of excitement has fizzled, or a onetime event has passed on, the excitement once felt sort of wanes in the demand starts to taper off. Transformers figures are kind of cool, so let's hope that the demand continues on. Find transformer action figures online at http://www.transformersfigures.net.
