Overseas Missionary Fellowship Overseas Missionary Fellowship was previously known as China Inland Mission and is now popularly known as OMF International. It refers to a Christian missionary society that is thoroughly interdenominational Protestant in nature. Its initial roots can be traced back to Britain where it was founded by Hudson Taylor in 1865. The Overseas Missionary Fellowship was founded on the principles of prayer and faith. From the very beginning Overseas Missionary Fellowship was active in recruiting single women and those from working class into its folds. For many agencies that handled this recruitment, this practice was largely new. Appeals for funds are not made even today as it was the case in its earlier years. Instead, Overseas Missionary Fellowship relies on prayer to move people to rely more on god. What started out as a mission largely focusing on China, has grown a lot in the recent years to include millions of people across East Asia where the message of Jesus Christ was neither heard nor taught before. Even after majority of Christian workers were forced to vacate in 1950s, the workers of Overseas Missionary Fellowship recalled back to continue their tasks. It was in the year 1964 that the name was changed to Overseas Missionary Fellowship from its earlier name - China Inland Mission. In the middle of 20th century, when there was a "reluctant exodus" amongst the members of Overseas Missionary Fellowship the leaders of the organization met in England and agreed upon re-sending the missionaries to East Asia . It was during this time that the headquarters was relocated to Singapore. Subsequent works were started in Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos and other countries. As a part of the program of Overseas Missionary Fellowship, certain languages were reduced to written form, bible was translated and various tribal groups that were neglected were provided theological education. The rural tribal people, students, and even the working classes were prioritized and the Christian literature was widely publicized and distributed amongst them. Most of these works that were started by Overseas Missionary Fellowship continues to this day and in a similar fashion. For more Overseas Missionary Fellowship articles visit missiontripzambia.com ">
