Online Auctions vs Bricks And Mortar

Computers
Traditionally the auction world has always been home to the antiques buffs and the upper classes. An auction in the sense that most of us would think about it, is something held in a big hall full of old furniture and even older people.

Unlike online auctions, physical auctions like this can be a daunting place for an auction newbie to walk into. Everyone you will meet in there will sit casually stroking their beards, whilst boasting to you about their booming antiques knowledge and their wealth of experience in the auction world. It's not really the sort of inviting atmosphere which makes us all want to jump up and get involved. As is evident from their popularity levels over previous years.

There is however, a great alternative. Yep, you guessed it, it's the wonderful world of the online auctions! Where the physical "bricks and motor" style auction houses fall down, is exactly where online auctions pick up.

Online auctions work over the internet (just in case the name did not give it away for you there) and are a great way of bidding in auctions anonymously. Bidding anonymously in this way means that you can confidently go into any auction, and place bids of any value, on any item you wish, without fear of scrutiny from others.

Another great benefit of online auctions over the bricks and motor alternative is the sheer number of auctions available. There are in fact such vast amounts of auctions happening online, that shoppers can go online 24 hours a day 7 days a week and be almost guaranteed to find the item that they want is available in an open auction somewhere on the net.

Whereas the traditional online auction houses are mainly the domain of the antiques and the collectables, online auctions can and do offer so much more. You really can buy almost anything in an auction somewhere on the internet.

The other major advantage of course is that these online auction sites are available for shoppers around the clock. The days of potential bidders having to research where about the auction houses are, find out about the auction lots that are going to be up and what days the auction will be on, are truly a thing of the past. The world of the online auction is here, and bidding sites the world over are lining up to bring you bargains of all shapes and sizes, posted handily to your front door.

By bidding online you will never have to leave the house. You can even bid online from the comfort of your own bed. How's that for a laid back shopping experience?!

The advantages that online shopping and online bidding can offer to shoppers of today, are too many and too widespread to go into here. But hopefully we have at least covered some of the basic ones, and shown you how you can make your auction experiences that little bit more productive.

BidGrid are a relatively new innovative online auction website where the lowest unique bid under three pounds wins each auction. See how it works.
