Different Types Of Network Cabling

Computers
When you want to have a secure and efficient internet connection with the least amount of noise and the highest capabilities, there are different types of network cabling options that you can use. Most common are the cat5 type and the cat6. The cat 5 wiring consists of four pairs of twisted wires with performance up to 100 Megahertz, and the cat6 also contains 4 pairs of twisted wires that are heavier making it capable of performances of up to 250 Megahertz. These twisted wires are usually always 24 gauge copper wires. When you are looking at the different types of network cabling you will have to understand the Ethernet speeds you have and you will have to choose depending on the application, whether it is for at home, at the office, or for an ATM.

These categories have been improved upon over time with the cat5 now offering a cat5e, and the cat6 also offering a cat6a or augmented category 6 cable. This allows for up to 500 MHz. Now, another thing that you have to consider when you are looking at the types of networking cables is the maximum lengths that are allowed for each cable. The cat6, for example, can reach a maximum length of 100 meters.

The main thing that you want to find in your network cable is that it is not noisy, and with the exact number of twists per wire, you can be assured of an increased signal to the cable and a reduced crosstalk noise, which is the noise from the other cable pairs. When looking at the connectors for the different types of network cabling, you will commonly find that the 8P8C modular connectors are used. These are often referred to as the RJ 45 connectors but this is incorrect.

The different types of network cables have different purposes which are as follows: The cat3 is used predominantly for data networks and carry a speed of 16Mhz. This is traditionally used for 10 bit Ethernet networks. The cat 5 enhanced network cables is the next recognized one and as discussed can carry 100Mhz and is suitable for 100bit Ethernet. Then you get the cat6 which doubles up on the 5e and the 6a which doubles up further on that with suitability for a 10gig base Ethernet. The last category that you can get is the cat7 and the cat7a. The 7 carries up to 600 Mhz and the 7a carries up to 1000Mhz. The two latter types are also known as Class F cabling.

Once you have looked at all the different types of Utah network cabling that you can get, it is just up to you to purchase the correct one for your needs and have it installed professionally. The installation of the cable is the most important part and to make sure that your connection is correct you should not do this yourself unless you understand exactly what to do and how to go about establishing a strong connection to the internet. The types of network cables that you can get can be found online and also from computer supply stores.
