Motorola mobile phones are known for naming their devices from where they supposedly get their inspiration from. The popular RAZR line up of slim clamshells is derived from the word 'razor' for obvious reasons. Similarly, SLVR is a shorter version of 'silver' which means a blade – a fitting name for a slim candy-bar mobile phone. Another such name – PEBL, derived from 'pebble' was given to a stylish clamshell. True to its name, the Moto-PEBL or the Motorola PEBL U6 resembles a natural pebble with non-glossy, yet smooth texture. Most of the clamshell manufacturers do not pay much attention to the material used in their products and often resort to one or other kind of plastic. On the contrary, the Motorola PEBL U6 has its almost entire body made of metal, not just insertion or cover of metals. However, unlike other metal solution like RAZR, which sports smooth metal covers, the Motorola PEBL U6's body is covered with mat coated paint that makes the device look like a pebble grinded by a sea. There are no fingerprints left on the handset and it does not get soiled easily. Use of metal in the Motorola PEBL U6 is responsible for its weight. The handset weights 110 grams, its heaviness is still felt in hands pleasantly. Opening the stylish clamshell reveals its metal etched keypads just like the ones used in RAZR phone. Primary TFT based screen used in the Motorola PEBL U6 is capable of producing more than 256k different hues across 176 x 220 pixels. Apart from its regular job acting as the user interface of the handset, the display also doubles up as a full screen viewfinder while you activate the devices' integrated VGA camera. The Motorola PEBL U6 supports all four GSM mobile networks and changes its band automatically. Through its embedded GPRS technology, the Motorola PEBL U6 can easily connect you to the internet while you are on the road. Other connectivity options includes Bluetooth v1.2 and USB.
