Are you going to FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil? It is very exciting and joyful time. World Cup has always been about unity, competition and fair play. Its premise is to unite the fans of the world and to enjoy this beautiful game. Every four years FIFA chooses a country or couple of countries to host the games. In 2014, Brazil will host the world cup for the second time in its history. When traveling abroad especially to Brazil for an event such as the world cup, above all you will need to plan for your personal security. According to most sources, Brazil possesses high rates of violent crimes, such as murders and robberies. Brazil places in the top 20 by the international homicide rate. If you are planning to travel alone or with the group, security should always be addressed. 1. Prepare a threat assessment – find out as much as possible about your destination(s). Do your research through internet & local embassy. If you feel you are not capable to prepare a good threat assessment, hire a professional. All threats are not created equal – a threat is an expression of intent to do harm or act out violently against someone or something. There are four types of threats: o Direct o Indirect o Veiled o Conditional Once you establish type of threat(s), rate the threat level – low, medium or high. 2. Minimize risks - determine how you would minimize the risks involved with your trip. Implement intervention strategy in a timely manner. Find out as much as you can about your destination – know your emergency contact numbers & addresses. 3. Prepare an emergency strategy – prepare different scenarios & emergency strategies for those scenarios. 4. Prepare an exit strategy – following a good exit strategy may sometimes mean a difference between life and death. Just like in a business plan, the security exit strategy is well defined with a precise tactic on what to do in case of an emergency situation. World cup should be about drama, fear, relief, jubilation – all these adjectives should however describe the game not the life or death situation you could find yourself in while visiting Brazil in 2014. Having a well defined security plan will make the spectacle of the 2014 FIFA World Cup a lot more enjoyable and safe. If you do not have the proper training or experience in preparing a good security plan then you should consider hiring a professional. Their job is to make sure all the necessary details are within your plan, you will have a clear understanding of what is your threat assessment, how to minimize the risks, and have a good emergency & exit strategy. If you have the resources, you should consider hiring a professional bodyguard or a team of bodyguards. They will take care of all the security aspects of your trips. Work with them, provide your itinerary well in advance and try to give them some flexibility, they do know what they are doing. Sometimes things might seem strange to you, but their experience dictates to be better safe than sorry. Here the author tairoylance says a.
