We all know that the job market is tough these days with more professionally trained people out there looking for work than ever before. Don’t let that get in your way if you are about to start your job search because there are many ways that you can set yourself ahead of the pack. It doesn’t matter if you are about to graduate from one of the excellent Denver colleges or if you’ve completed your training through one of the country’s online colleges, what matters is when you start looking. All too often students wait until they have their newly acquired credentials in hand before they head out and start searching for their dream job. This is a big mistake as it lumps you in with every other recent graduate out there who is looking for exactly what you are. You have to set yourself apart and the easiest way to do that is by getting a jump on the job market before you finish your training. If you have been keeping track of your marks and assignments during your program, you’ll have a pretty good idea about what your overall final grade will be so let prospective bosses know by sending out or hand delivering letters of introduction to those employers that you hope to end up working for. A simple one page letter telling them of your passion for the industry, your dedication, and your desire to work for them upon graduation can go a long way. State your current grade average, your program end date, and the mark you anticipate completing with in your letter of introduction. This shows future employers that you have the ingenuity and the wherewithal to sell yourself for the job that you desire. While other students are planning their grad celebrations, you could be signing on with the company of your dreams.
