It is NOT beyond the means of communities to provide forthe poor, if you reduce the tax burden, giving people theopportunity to freely donate to organizations who can help in adirect, personal way, and thus everyone gains in merit andincreases in holiness. Instead, the poor are held hostage toinefficient and impersonal government programs, while taxpayers areforced to pay for it. Which sounds more Gospel values?
