If you are a nanny, let me share some of my insights with you. As soon as you show up for your interview and open your mouth you make an impression. If your English is not grammatically correct, you probably will not be hired. If for instance, you use a double negative, example: I don’t have no… or if you use the past tense incorrectly, example: I didn’t saw…, your chances of getting the job are almost zero. If you recognize this deficiency in yourself, I would suggest buying a book “Grammar For Dummies” and learning to speak English correctly. Intelligent mothers understand the importance of having their children learn to speak English correctly and will do their best to avoid any influence which could compromise the development of their children`s linguistic skills. Intelligent mothers will look for the best nanny services in order to the best exposure to their children. Another important consideration is letting the employer know that you are willing to be flexible with your schedule. The impression you make should indicate your willingness and interest to do what is required, and then some. Your appearance is of paramount importance. Coming to an interview with any of the following will probably eliminate your chances for the job before you even had a chance to say anything. 1 – unkempt 2 - long nails 3 - inappropriate attire ( very short or tight clothes) At an interview you should try to interact with the children. Ask them questions about themselves, and if it is appropriate, play with them for a few minutes. You should be a good listener and pick up on what seems important to the parent. Try to ask intelligent questions, which would suggest that you, are willing and able to follow instructions. In summary, you want to present yourself as a neat, friendly, flexible, intelligent applicant. You will increase your chances of getting your dream job if you follow this advice.
