Roberta McNabb is a Canadian resident who has worked as a correctional officer for 17 continuous years. Her working record was totally clean and she faced all her professional challenges with efficiency. Roberta McNabb has a great respect for law and regulations and she has never been convicted of any offence. In spite of having lived an honest life, she was unfairly charged for a criminal offence by York regional police. From July 4, 2008 to Jan 8, 2009, she had been alleged for law infringement without any evidence. According to Roberta McNabb, she was innocent and completely unaware of the reasons why police has accused her. Her silence was considered as hindrance to further proceedings and police threatened her to be charged with criminal organization as well. She was innocent but still she had been through a rigorous mental torture by York Regional Police. Police laid unsubstantial charges on her and left all legal procedures up to the lawyers and crown. Eventually the truth prevailed and she was proved innocent of all the accusations that the Canadian police had imposed on her. After being harassed for almost one year in court formalities, all charges on Roberta McNabb were withdrawn by the crown. She said that all the charges against her were biased and so withdrawn by the crown as the police had no evidence against her innocence. Incompetency of the Canadian police can be judged by a snapshot obtained by Star for its Crime and Punishment series from the police database 2005. This snapshot revealed that there were around 500,000 cases for people without convictions in Canadian Police Information Center. The Information Center included records for people who were acquitted as well as those whose charges were stayed or withdrawn. Even if withdrawn charges included in reports from record checks were based on false allegations. Even though her innocence was proved and she was acquitted by the crown, Roberta McNabb still has to bear the ramifications of those unfair charges.
